NEW DATE! 2021 Virtual Benefit Concert: They Would Only Walk

Our Annual Benefit Concerts are often THE feel-good, celebratory event of the year and although things look a little different this year, we are still offering YOU - our BSW family of supporters - an opportunity to come together online and celebrate our students through music.

We have assembled an incredible lineup of musicians who have exclusive videos for our Benefit Concert ONLY.

Full Artist Lineup: Matt Berninger (The National), Aaron Dessner (The National), Bryce Dessner (The National), Laurel Sprenglemeyer (Little Scream) and Richard Reed Parry (Arcade Fire), Gail Ann DorseyTime for ThreeJoshua RomanLisa HanniganBen Lanz (The National, Beirut), Potter's FieldBuffalo String Works students, and Buffalo Chamber Players

Special Guest Appearance: JoAnn Falletta

Concert Headliners are our BSW students, of course! They perform the WORLD PREMIERE of They Would Only Walk, a piece written for our students by composer and documentarian, Mary Kouyoumdjian. Our students are featured as musicians and the voices of our families take us all on a heartwarming and beautiful journey.

As a first generation Armenian-American and having come from a family directly affected by the Lebanese Civil War and Armenian Genocide, Ms. Kouyoumdjian uses a sonic palette that draws on her heritage… A strong believer in the freedom of speech and the arts as an amplifier of expression, her compositional work often integrates recorded testimonies with resilient individuals and field recordings of place and aims to invite empathy by humanizing complex experiences around social and political conflict.

The Virtual Benefit Concert premieres on Saturday, March 20 at 7pm and remains available through Saturday, March 20 at 11:59pm.

For local WNY-ers, stay tuned for a VIP Dinner Package courtesy of The Left Bank Restaurant and Bar.
